So far I have done the one leg dance each the past three days. 1/19 was supposed to be one leg balance and that was most of what happened anyways, due to the difficulty of standing on one leg for 2-3 minutes. I played one song and danced on one leg for the duration of the song, then switched legs for the next song. The second day was nearly as difficult as the first, but today, the third, I danced through 5:30 of a 6 minute song on my right leg, then 4 minutes on the left. The right leg got tired towards the end, but the first four minutes were much more about free expression and responding to the music. The left leg didn’t have quite as good endurance, but both engaged a feeling similar to a suction cup, my foot stuck to the ground and my leg like the wooden handle. I also noticed my legs looked thinner in the middle and lower parts after a couple days of this. Perhaps that was related to other movements I was/was not doing with the lower body through that time.

If I continued this practice for a week or month, I wonder if I would be able to start jumping on one leg during the dance. I made a point to explore the edged of my abilities in moving the non-weight bearing leg and pelvis, so it’s really about the foot and lower leg, not the entire foot to pelvis structure. It also challenges the balance mechanisms more to move the pelvis while balancing on one leg.

It’s interesting how the non-weight bearing leg starts to feel similar to an arm after awhile. It feels like a fundamentally different relationship with the circulatory system in particular. This probably helps train the circulatory system to deepen both it’s balancing/weight bearing capacities and it’s non-weight bearing capacities, the second of which are quickly lost and never regained in most modern 1st world humans.

Pondering how this kind of approach could be used in a therapeutic perspective. . . maybe if something big happened during this time, like you got mentally-emotionally-spiritually stuck somehow and later, looking back, discovered this to be an origin point, could you use an astrological embodiment approach to work these energies into your body, assisting the energetic integration process with this astrological-embodiment approach?

I did the Embodied Awareness walk for Mercury in Aquarius and the face stretching for Jupiter (and now Venus as well) in Aries. Hopefully I’ll get some observations recorded on results of those experiments after a few more days of doing them, though I really like what’s happening with the basic Sun/Moon/Mars/Saturn based stuff.
